Donnington Castle:
Richard II granted a licence to Richard Abberbury the Elder in 1385 to crenellate a Castle at Donnington. The castle was designed as a rectangular building enclosing a central courtyard. A round tower stood at each corner of the castle and two square towers midway along the longest sides. The castle has an impressive gatehouse, which is in fact the only part of the castle that remains standing today. The gatehouse was a three-storey rectangular building with two round towers at the entrance.
